Serizawa: Hijikata, become a demon.
Hijikata: …a demon?
Serizawa: Like I said, a peasant’s son will always be a peasant — that’s how most people think. No matter how well-known you become, slanderous words like “risen from a peasant” will follow you everywhere. Therefore, you have to exert yourself fervently, and you can’t hesitate to make an enemy of others.
Serizawa: That’s what I mean by “become a demon.” For Kondou-kun’s sake. If you can do that, you might have a chance to topple the rule of this world.
